LSU's women's basketball team sparked outrage prior to their game against Iowa on Monday night after leaving the court before the American national anthem was played.
The LSU Tigers were beaten 94-87 by the Iowa Hawkeyes in Albany, where the latter's star player Caitlin Clark put on a 41-point masterclass to help her team advance to the Final Four of this year's NCAA tournament.
Yet earlier in the evening, footage on social media appeared to show that LSU players skipped the national anthem before it played out at Times Union Center.
Iowa stars, meanwhile, stood hand-in-hand while taking in the Star-Spangled Banner

it seems that communist ideology has taken root within the black younger generation and a portion of the black citizens ..... unfortunate, very unfortunate

An LA Times writer calls them "dirty debutantes" and it's deemed a racist remark (10 of 12 on the team are black). The coach (who has a serious ego problem) goes nuts, the writer offers a pukening apology, and the team disappears for the National Anthem that evening - but it wasn't intentional. Caitlin Clark has turned women's basketball upside down this year and no one knows how to handle it. A white-girl record setter? That's racist, too, ya know.

LSU reaped what they sowed. I'm ashamed they represented the SEC in this clash. Go Iowa, and bring it home...

There were two, only two really quality human beings to play sports for LSU, Pistol Pete and Shaq... No one and I mean nobody else ever. LSU is famous for the America-hating, T R E A S O N O U S garbage like James Carville!

They obviously should have spent more time practicing on the court and less time crying about racism and other nonsense that doesn't exist today.

Caitlin Clark’s court awareness is very advanced. When the defense closed in, she made beautiful assists through narrow passing lanes. Caitlin Clark is on a different level.

I suspect that their avoidance of the anthem was unintentional. Why would they give ammunition to the detractors.

Bob petite, Naismith hall of fame, Regular season MVP X2, NBA All-Star went to LSU. Chris Jackson (goes by a different name now that he slapped a towel on his head), Rudy Macklin. There have been others. Still, disgraceful and the Dog ate my homework excuse is so lame.

I saw that game at the house of a friend of mine yesterday. Caitlin Clark showcase that she is more than a scoring machine but a great passer and floor leader. LSU was good but this time they couldn't contain Clark and she was able to beat the double teams with great help. The whole leaving the court before the National Anthem was played alone made me glad that they lost. Congratulations to the Hawkeyes and best of luck going forward.

The final score says it all. The LSU coach says it wasn't intentional. Oh ya, I'm buying that. Hope the door didn't hit you in the rear end on the way out.

This is the most attention these players are ever going to have. After all, it's women's basketball. Even if any of these players make it to the WNBA, will anyone notice or even care. Will anyone ever see them again?

Question for coach Mulkey
Why didn't it happen when you were coaching at Baylor?
It was a much more popular protest back then

Poster 19, they might notice. Caitlin Clark has sold out every arena she played in this season. Over the next few years, for every dollar WNBA players receive in salary, they are going to owe at least 25 cents to Caitlin Clark.

Not a B-Ball fan, never have been.
Also women’s sports is about as much fun to watch as men’s beauty contests.
That said,
looking at this young lady from Iowa, she may have found something everyone else has missed.
Perhaps Basketball could be transformed by a cerebral approach to the game.
Throw away the no gain, no brain thug culture and go with intelligence and grace.

The coach supported the disgraceful action by lying. Sets a horrible example. Makes it unlikely her players will develop honour and integrity. This is a major cause of the demise of our culture. These feral yutes are ending up just as they have been programmed. Sad.

That the coach would come out and say missing the Anthem was unintentional tells you so much about the ethos of the team.

A very prescient post, #22, especially if you have not been watching basketball over the last several decades.
The thug ball, as I've called it for at least three decades is exactly what turned me away from the game. The NBA was the first to go down the tubes with the thuggish play in the mid to late 80s, and refs not calling near as many fouls because of it. They didn't have enough players to finish a game if they called all the fouls. Then college basketball started circling the drain a decade or so ago. Anyone notice the increase in players wearing head gear for protection? It reminds me of a Rodney Dangerfield quip, "I went to a boxing match the other evening, and a hockey game broke out!"
I never really was a fan of women's basketball, but the same behavior as above is taking hold there too. IMO, disrespecting the National Anthem is also part of it.

From what I have read they routinely leave the floor before a game. As much as I disagree it does not seem to be what it is being blown up to be. My question would be, the previous games were they on the floor when the National Anthem was played? On a side note, I'm delighted that odious angel got her butt kicked.

The coach said in an interview that it was unintentional but if you look at the videos taken during the National Anthem, there is no sign of the coach on the sidelines either. I call BS.

Caitlin Clark is 100% woman! If one can’t tell, one must live a miserable lonely life! She is a major smoke show! And the best female hooper of all time! Go Hawks!
