The decision closes the door on a tragic case in which a mother was forced to use her firearm to defend her children. The incident occurred in December when Aleah Wallace discovered that the boy was trying to break into her home through a window. A grand jury no-billed Aleah Wallace, meaning they didn’t find enough evidence for charges. A Texas mom who fatally shot a 14-year-old boy who was breaking into her 8-year-old daughter’s window last December found out this week she won’t be charged.

Interior Secretary Deb Haaland acknowledged to Congress on Wednesday that she has never been to the southern border region while in office — despite tons of trash being dumped on government property by a record number of migrants.
“Roughly 40% of our southern border is federal lands,” Rep. Tom Tiffany (R-Wis.) said during a fiscal year 2025 budget hearing with Haaland. “Is trash on the federal lands along the border an issue?”
“Congressman, I have not been to the border, so I couldn’t tell you that,” Haaland answered.
Tiffany revealed that Bureau of Land Management (BLM) officials told him in February at least 193 tons of garbage had been collected

After five days of anti-Israel demonstrators occupying Deering Meadow on Northwestern University’s campus, Northwestern president Michael Schill and the rest of the university’s leadership decided to accede to several of the protesters’ demands.
While not committing to divesting its endowment from companies that do business in Israel and ending partnerships with Israeli institutions, the university released a list of concessions in a celebratory statement Monday afternoon in exchange for the removal of the encampment on the lawn.

Columbia University is threatening to expel student protesters against Israel’s handling of the war in Gaza who took over a campus building on Tuesday.
“Students occupying the building face expulsion,” said Columbia spokesperson Ben Chang, The Associated Press reported.
“Protesters have chosen to escalate to an untenable situation — vandalizing property, breaking doors and windows, and blockading entrances — and we are following through with the consequences we outlined yesterday,” Chang added.
Chang is referring to the school’s Monday promise to suspend people who did not clear the encampment and sign a document promising to obey the university’s policies around protesting.
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) could be the latest Democratic lawmaker to face a censure resolution in the House after Rep. Don Bacon (R-NE) announced plans to condemn the hard-left lawmaker over her comments on pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses.
Bacon is set to introduce the resolution as early as Wednesday, although it remains unclear when the Nebraska Republican will seek to force a vote on the measure. Many decades ago my four year old daughter was invited to play at a neighbor's house with another little girl while visiting her grandparents in an upper middle class neighborhood. While there, she was attacked and knocked down by the neighbor's Doberman that went for her throat while she on the ground. Thankfully the bite occurred under her arm pit as she instinctively raised her arm to protect herself. The dog clamped down and shook her like a rag doll. Fortunately the owner's teenage son was there and got the dog off my daughter.
