Biden’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Rule
for Vehicles Struck Down by Texas Judge

Original Article

A judge in Texas struck down a Biden administration rule on March 28 that required states to measure and report the greenhouse gas emissions from any vehicles using the national highway system. The rule was issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT)’s Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) in 2023 as part of President Biden’s efforts to slash carbon emissions in half by 2030. Specifically, it required state transportation departments and metropolitan planning organizations (MPOs) to both measure their transportation-related emissions on the U.S. highway system and set their own emission reduction targets.

This is the beginning of the agency rules slap down. The SCOTUS has made similar decisions and it's just a matter of time before a broad range ruling against such agency misuse of power is handed down. This is going to be a disaster for dems who make "law" through the bureaucracy. Further, it is going to be a disaster for Congress as agency rules are challenged and tossed out and Congress will need to act to accomplish anything. There could be significant reversals of policy as some of these rules are killed. It's also going to be a YUGE expansion of FREEDOM as individuals are freed of the weight of the arbitrary federal bureaucracy.

FTA: "Officials also said transportation is the leading source of greenhouse gas emissions in the United States." What is most important was unstated within the article. Transportation is the leading source of food produced in rural areas and delivered to Blue cities and states. They may need a 'trial run' to see if they really want to cripple transportation. New York, Boston, Chicago, and Los Angeles do not show up in the U.S. grain production records. City folk are net consumers of agricultural products; not so much on the producer side.

WASHINGTON—After a string of retirements and an expulsion, House Republicans will soon hold the slimmest majority in modern history. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) is leading a Republican conference that can spare only one defection in a party that has already dethroned its own speaker over internal divisions. Such a thin advantage gives Republicans little in the way of leverage in a government that’s otherwise completely controlled by Democrats—particularly as infighting and the threat of a new motion to vacate against Mr. Johnson hangs over all that he does.

Lawmakers and privacy experts on both sides of the political spectrum are sounding the alarm on a provision in a spy powers reform bill that one senator described as one of the “most terrifying expansions of government surveillance” in history. Eighty-six House Republicans last Friday voted for the Reforming Intelligence and Securing America Act (RISAA), a bill that would reauthorize Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA). Section 702 is a government surveillance authority that is meant to target foreign adversaries, but often surveils Americans’ communications without a warrant.

Before getting into bigger picture analysis and intellectual discussion about FISA and the 702 reauthorizations, let me just reveal some inside DC crap that drives me nuts and at the same time will help y’all understand the nonsense. First, the Intelligence Community (IC) tells congress, particularly the House and Senate Intelligence Committees, that all hell will break loose if they don’t reauthorize full electronic surveillance of Americans. Congress is petrified of the IC. Speaker Johnson and all of the key participants are totally siloed from understanding that 702 has nothing to do with incidental collection of American data whilst the honorable IC were doing foreign intercepts.

President Joe Biden’s new EV mandates will likely prove to be a sizable wealth transfer from rural red regions of America to urban blue sections, and to wealthy Democrats who reside in them, according to reports. On March 20, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) finalized its tailpipe emissions rules for the auto industry starting in 2027. These rules are the strictest in history and will effectively force carmakers to have one-third of new car sales be plug-in electric vehicles (EVs) by 2027 and more than two-thirds by 2032. This represents a dramatic increase from current EV sales, which were about 8 percent of the new car market in 2023.

A new study out of UCLA says same-sex couples are at greater “risk of exposure to the adverse effects of climate change” than straight couples. These effects include “wildfires, floods, smoke-filled skies, and drought,” according to a report from KQED. Same-sex couples disproportionately live in coastal regions and cities, which are more vulnerable to such disasters. They’re also more likely “to live in areas with poor infrastructure, worse-built environments.” Washington DC, which rates high for “climate risks” such as heat waves, floods, and “dangerously strong winds,” has the greatest proportion of gay couples in the U.S. San Francisco ranks second, and also faces a high climate change risk.

If you missed it, you had to wait a year until it was rebroadcast as there was no video on demand as there is today. It was a fun movie, featuring sing-a-long music, romance, mischief, and a realistic view of jackbooted Nazis destroying a beautiful country. There was no same sex marriage, no transgenders, no mention of global warming, diversity, wokeness, or any other message permeating current movies and television shows.
